Na deslocação a Talin na Estónia (de 14/03/2023 a 18/03/2023), a expetativa inicial era conhecer os professores de Saxofone da MUBA (Escola de Música e Ballet equivalente ao nosso Conservatório) e de outras escolas da cidade, bem como tentar perceber como funciona o seu sistema de ensino. As datas escolhidas, tiveram também como objetivo poder acompanhar 2 concursos: concurso entre alunos de sopros (Saxofone incluído) de várias escolas (MUBA VET, GE e Tartu Eller); final do concurso de Saxofone apenas “Best Young instrumentalist 2023”, organizado pela Associação de Escolas de Música da Estónia, que se realizou na Escola de Música Lasnamäe.
O programa iniciou com uma visita guiada às instalações da MUBA, na companhia da sua responsável pelo programa ERASMUS+ - Eve Neumann.

When traveling to Tallinn in Estonia (from 14/03/2023 to 18/03/2023), the initial expectation was to meet the Saxophone teachers from MUBA (School of Music and Ballet equivalent to our Conservatory) and from other schools in the city, as well as trying to understand how your education system works. The chosen dates also had the objective of being able to follow 2 competitions: competition between woodwind students (Saxophone included) from several schools (MUBA VET, GE and Tartu Eller); final of the Saxophone only competition “Best Young instrumentalist 2023”, organized by the Estonian Association of Music Schools, which took place at the Lasnamäe Music School.
The program started with a guided tour of MUBA's facilities, accompanied by f the ERASMUS+ program coordinator - Eve Neumann.
[ PT ] Esta escola está a funcionar em novas instalações, recentemente construídas de raiz e com condições de trabalho de nível superior. Os alunos que a frequentam, têm já um compromisso com uma visão profissional de futuro e esta será a escola com melhor nível musical do país para as faixas etárias do ensino básico e secundário.
Tive a oportunidade de realizar algumas atividades em "job shadowing": observar a dinâmica das suas aulas, refletir sobre algumas práticas e aplicar algumas intervenções pedagógicas. A observação de metodologias e o conhecimento de reportórios diferentes motiva-me, e considero ser enriquecedora para atualização das minhas próprias práticas pedagógicas.
Aproveitei a proximidade geográfica para ir até Helsínquia - Finlândia, conhecer a Academia Sibelius (ensino superior) e a sua classe de Saxofone. Moveram-me a curiosidade e a oportunidade de visitar uma instituição reconhecida, com provas dadas e o facto do seu professor de Saxofone – Joonatan Rautiola – ter estudado no berço deste instrumento - o Conservatório Superior de Música e Dança de Paris.

[ EN ] This school is operating in new facilities, recently built from scratch and with superior working conditions. The students who attend it already have a commitment to a professional vision of the future and this will be the school with the best musical level in the country for the primary and secondary school age groups.
I had the opportunity to carry out some activities in "job shadowing": observe the dynamics of their classes, reflect on some practices and apply some pedagogical interventions. The observation of methodologies and knowledge of different repertoires motivates me, and I consider it enriching for updating my own pedagogical practices.
I took advantage of the geographic proximity to go to Helsinki - Finland, to visit the Sibelius Academy (higher education) and its Saxophone class. I was moved by curiosity and the opportunity to visit a recognized institution, with proven evidence, and the fact that its Saxophone teacher – Joonatan Rautiola – studied in the cradle of this instrument – ​​the Conservatory of Music and Dance in Paris.

tive a oportunidade de conhecer o “pai do Saxofone” na Estónia – Olavi Kasemaa. Este senhor foi pioneiro no ensino deste instrumento, formando todos os professores de Saxofone em atividade na atualidade no seu país, motivando a composição de obras e constituindo um quarteto que esteve ativo durante vários anos. Tem 79 anos, ainda leciona na MUBA e chegou ao concurso vindo diretamente da Irlanda, onde costuma ir pescar. É venerado por aquelas bandas, por ser um apaixonado competentíssimo!

I had the opportunity to meet the “father of the Saxophone” in Estonia – Olavi Kasemaa. This gentleman was a pioneer in teaching this instrument, training all Saxophone teachers currently active in his country, motivating the composition of works and forming a quartet that was active for several years. He is 79 years old, still teaches at MUBA and arrived at the competition directly from Ireland, where he usually goes fishing. He is revered in those parts, for being a very competent lover!
